KNOW THE FACTS:

Many family-owned bars, restaurants, and taverns have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for their liquor licenses. Many have been forced to take bank loans against them.

Flooding our communities with cheap liquor licenses will lead to financial ruin for many of New Jersey’s family-owned bars, restaurants, and taverns.

Many bars, restaurants, and taverns are already struggling to recover from the loss of business due to the pandemic. Unlimited liquor licenses will force them to close.

Studies show that cheap liquor licenses lead to an increase in crime, alcohol, drug abuse, and domestic violence.

Studies show that more liquor licenses increase drunk driving and traffic fatalities, particularly among underage
drinkers.

Governor Murphy’s plan will cost our local communities jobs, such as retail clerks, delivery people, and restaurant workers.

Governor Murphy’s plan does not provide enforcement funding despite the fact that it creates thousands of new liquor licenses.

ALTERNATIVE, COMMON SENSE PLAN

Instead of flooding the market with cheap liquor licenses, take advantage of the record number of inactive licenses.

Shopping malls hold licenses that could be utilized for Main Street development, with the shopping malls receiving new state permits in their place.

Allow new liquor licenses for substantial developments.

Encourage historically disadvantaged populations to enter the alcohol beverage industry through the use of NJ Economic Development Authority low-interest, forgivable loans and grants.
